Who it fits
Good fit for
You should consider this blanket if you spend nights in tents, RVs, or vehicles. The 12V connection works with car cigarette lighter sockets or compatible power stations like the BougeRV B266. If you need preheating via the app before settling in, this feature adds comfort. The shoulder heating rows are ideal for campers who feel cold in the upper body. Its removable cover handles mud and spills well, making it practical for repeated outdoor trips.
Who should skip it
Skip this option if you plan to wash the entire blanket in a machine. The inner plush heating layer is not washable and must be wiped clean only. You cannot use this blanket with standard 110V household outlets without a specific inverter or power station setup. If you need a large throw for a standard bed, the 70.87 by 51.18 inch size may be too small. Those seeking smart home integration beyond basic app timing will find limited connectivity.
Verdict: This 12V heated blanket offers steady, safe warmth for outdoor setups with convenient app control. It is a practical choice for campers who need portable, vehicle-powered heating.
Key specs explained
Dimensions: 70.87 x 51.18 inches
This size fits most standard camping cots and vehicle seats. You get enough surface area to cover your torso and legs without excessive bulk. It is smaller than a typical home twin bed blanket, so it is optimized for portable use rather than full-bed coverage. Check your gear dimensions before buying to ensure a proper fit.
Weight: 4.52 pounds
The blanket is light enough to carry in a backpack or store in a small compartment. This low weight reduces fatigue when hiking or moving gear. It contrasts with heavy weighted blankets for home use. If you prioritize portability over deep pressure therapy, this weight is manageable for extended outdoor trips and daily transport.
Power: 48W
This wattage provides steady heat without draining your vehicle battery too quickly. It is efficient for long nights in a tent or RV. Higher wattage blankets may require larger power stations or direct vehicle connections. This level balances warmth and energy use, making it suitable for standard 12V outlets found in most cars and camping setups.
Temperature range: 85-105°F
You can adjust the heat to match your comfort level and the outside weather. The range covers mild coolness to intense warmth. This allows you to preheat a vehicle or tent before entering. Compare this to home blankets that may have wider ranges. You can fine-tune the setting to avoid overheating during active sleep or rest.
Color: Green
The green color helps the blanket blend into natural outdoor environments. It is less visible than bright colors when stored in gear bags or left on campsite surfaces. This option is available alongside blue. Choose based on personal preference or how well it matches your existing camping gear and tent interior aesthetics.
Design and build details
The listing describes this BougeRV model as a portable electric blanket in green. It measures 70.87 by 51.18 inches and weighs 4.52 pounds. This size is compact enough for vehicle seats or camping cots. The weight keeps it manageable for outdoor travel. You can choose between green or blue options. The color choice does not affect performance. It is a functional piece of gear for cold weather trips.
The outer cover features a hidden zipper for removal. You can wash the cover to clean off mud or spills. The inner heating layer is not washable. You must wipe it clean only. This design protects the electrical components from water damage. It suits users who need easy maintenance after rough outdoor use. The material choices prioritize durability and safety in tents or RVs.
Controls include a wired unit with a 12V car adapter. The adapter connects to a vehicle cigarette lighter socket. An app allows extended timing from 4 to 10 hours. This layout supports preheating before you settle in. The build includes over-temperature and over-voltage protection. These features stop heating if conditions become unsafe. The design focuses on steady warmth for outdoor use. It is built for practicality rather than luxury. You get a storage bag and manual in the package. The construction aims for reliable performance in cold environments.
Setup and everyday use guide
Setting up this blanket begins with connecting the included 1.5m 12V car adapter cable to your vehicle’s cigarette lighter socket. The controller cable, measuring 0.5m, links the blanket to the wired unit. You can also power the blanket using a BougeRV B266 power station via its 12V car outlet. This option allows use away from a vehicle. The listing notes that a fully charged B266 provides about 26 hours of runtime at 95°F. Runtime varies based on settings.
For daily operation, you select from five heat levels. The temperature range spans 85 to 105°F. The wired controller lets you set a timer for one to three hours. The companion app extends this timing to four to ten hours. This feature allows you to preheat the blanket before settling in. The app also supports remote control.
Safety features activate automatically. A built-in temperature-sensing probe stops heating if over-temperature conditions occur. Over-voltage protection engages above 16V during longer runtime. This helps prevent issues in cars or RVs.
Cleaning involves removing the outer cover using the hidden zipper. The cover is washable. The inner plush heating layer is not washable. You must wipe it clean only. The package includes a storage bag for compact transport. This design supports easy setup in tents or vehicles. You get steady warmth without complex installation steps.
Before You Buy This Blanket
This BougeRV model is a specialized tool for cold-weather camping, not a replacement for your home bedding. It runs on 12V DC power, so you must verify your vehicle or power station supports this output. The included adapter fits standard cigarette lighter sockets, but you may need a separate power station, like the BougeRV B266, for extended off-grid use. Runtime depends on your battery’s capacity and the heat setting chosen. Upkeep requires care. The outer cover is removable and washable, which helps manage outdoor dirt. However, the inner heating layer is not washable and must only be wiped clean. Keep this unit separate from your regular weighted blankets. It serves a distinct purpose for tent nights and vehicle waits. Ensure you have a suitable power source before purchasing. This product complements your existing gear rather than replacing it.
Check before you buy
- Verify your vehicle or power station provides 12V DC output.
- Confirm the included 12V adapter fits your vehicle's socket.
- Check if you need a separate power station for long trips.
- Ensure you have space to store the inner heating layer safely.
